First, let me apologize for the multiple errors in the first Kinsey Update email. Audrey was appalled! She will proof them from now on.
Kinsey went to the hospital clinic today and it only took us 3 and a half hours to find out they didn't need to do anything. Her CBC (complete blood count) showed she did not yet need a transfusion but her platelets were low enough that the doctor did not want to wait until Monday to see her again. So we go back on Saturday.
She is getting better with taking her many meds each day; although the "bad" one still sets her off every time. She says it has got to be the worst tasting medicine in the whole wide world, worse than Coke (she's a strange kid).
Today, between the clinic visit and picking up Aunt Ann at the airport, the girls were hungry and wanted to eat out. We, of course, cannot do that. But we went through Taco Bell's drive-thru and found a secluded section of a "park" nearby. We all sat in the sunshine and ate bean burritos. Kinsey said, "This is the best day I've had in a long time!" It doesn't take long in these circumstances for perspective to change. This is the same little girl who used to be very picky about restaurants and parks. She said as a two year old, "How come the food doesn't taste as good when they give it to you out the window?" Today, a brief outing in a park without a playground at a broken picnic table with Taco Bell food rated among her best experiences. Jillian, Audrey, and I agreed! Makes me strain to remember what was bad about "bad" days I've had in the past. We'll let you know how the Saturday visit goes.
