Just a quick update to let you all know that Kinsey went back to the clinic today (first time in 2 weeks) and her numbers were all up slightly. We were a bit disappointed that they were not higher, but Dr. Big Dog doesn't seem worried yet. She looks and feels great and is busy preparing for school.
We went swimming last week as planned and she had a blast. An anonymous friend sent three cute little puppies from FAO Swartz to the girls along with a dragon. I asked Kinsey what she wanted to do with the dragon and she said, "drown him." So she did. We have him hanging out to dry on the end of our flagpole beside the triple ladybug flag.
We are leaving for a short Kentucky trip to visit family before Kinsey starts school, Jillian starts pre-school and gymnastics, and I return to work. This is the first trip we will have taken in the last year and a half without a box of medications, a cooler of medications, IV tubing and pumps, and no clinic appointment in another city just to make sure she doesn't need a transfusion. We are looking forward to that.
More later. . .

P.S. Kinsey auditioned for Milwaukee's Children's Theater tonight. We are very proud of her because she wanted to do it and practiced her monologue (the subject was the importance of donating blood and platelets) and song for two full days. She had very little prep time and we encouraged her to wait until next year. The youngest they usually take is 8 and she's still 6. She insisted she try, saying "it will be a good experience." We were not allowed to be in the room but she tells us that she did very well. No problems with self esteem there!
Audrey tried out for Jeopardy last week (they came to Milwaukee) with 1249 of her closest friends. They spent several hours together that first day waiting to take a 10 question test. She got them all right (of course) and advanced to day two with about 130 of her new friends. They waited to take a 50 question test (I think she missed one of two of those and is still beating herself up about it) and advanced to the live practice session with 34 of the friends. One of only 3 women in the group, she made the final cut and now we are waiting for her to be called within the next 12-14 months. No guarantees of course since they have more qualified contestants than spots each year--but we think she'll get a call. Kinsey figured this meant we should ALL go and since Jeopardy only takes an hour, we could run over to Disneyworld as soon as Audrey won all that money (or the lovely parting gifts).
I told Audrey this was proof that we had brains and beauty in the family, but then there was me. She patted me sympathetically and (disliking the pity) I added, "I have both."
Brains, beauty, talent, and
HEALTH!!!" Happy, Healthy, Whole!
